About:
In 2002, Steven M. Chanley founded Employer Advocates Group LC (“EAG”) where he concentrates on the representing and advising employers in all aspects of labor and employment law. Mr. Chanley is rated by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory as “AV,” the highest rating given to attorneys based on their legal ability and professional ethics, reliability and diligence.
Mr. Chanley has over 30 years’ experience representing employers in civil and administrative litigation matters and providing consultation and advice to employers across a broad range of industries regarding labor and employment law matters. His practice includes the litigation of wage-hour, trade secret/non-competition, sexual harassment, employment discrimination, and wrongful discharge matters. He also represents employers before the California Labor Commissioner, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Mr. Chanley also counseled corporations in employment and personnel policy matters and has conducted training seminars for supervisors and human resources managers.
For over a decade, Mr. Chanley was a Contributing Editor of the BNA publication "The Developing Labor Law," which is the leading treatise on labor-management relations under the National Labor Relations Act.
Mr. Chanley is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo (B.A., cum laude, 1985) and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (J.D., 1989). During law school, he was a member of the Hastings Moot Court Board and won two American Jurisprudence awards for academic excellence in the study of Labor Law. In 1989, he served as an extern at the National Labor Relations Board’s Regional Office in San Francisco.
Mr. Chanley formerly served on the Executive Board of the San Luis Obispo Symphony Association Executive Board and on the Board of Directors of the Clark Center for the Performing Arts.
